Mrs. Crystal Hill, M. Ed., Online Instructor
Crystal R. Hill is a wife, mother of three, and grandmother of two. She was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and still resides there today. An active church member at the House of Joy Christian Ministries, she enjoys doing all she can to help others. She motivates individuals to never stop learning and writes daily devotions to point souls to Christ.
As a devotion leader, Crystal serves on many committees at her church. She enjoys singing, teaching, and praising God. Crystal does not hesitate to make it known that without Jesus Christ, she can do nothing. It is only because of Him, His grace, and His mercy that she is alive and blessed in the capacity that she is.
Crystal began her journey in the early childhood education field in 1989. She had a passion to educate children by building a foundation that will equip them with skills. Crystal also wanted to prepare them for their future aspirations.
She graduated from Withrow High school with a childcare certification. After that, she attended Cincinnati State and graduated with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Early Childhood Education. Crystal also graduated from Ashford University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education Administration and a Master of Arts in Education, specializing in Family and Community Services.
Her philosophy is that active learning is an important vehicle for individuals, both children and adults, to explore their world, practice social and emotional skills, as well as develop cognitive skills. Active learning allows individuals to practice newly acquired skills and challenge themselves beyond the level of their present mastery.
Finally, Crystal believes that development occurs in a relatively orderly sequence with future abilities, skills, and knowledge building on those already acquired.
Crystal has worked in childcare centers and schools with children from infants to eighth-graders. She has served in many different capacities including:
- Center Director
- Assistant Center Director
- Program Coordinator
- Lead Teacher
- Teacher Assistant
- Volunteer After-School Tutor
Moreover, Crystal has managed her own day care within her home, which was certified through Job and Family Services. She has provided coaching and teaching skills to childcare staff and taught parenting classes to pregnant women and mothers of young children.
